SIJHL Year End Awards: Most Improved Player

By Tanner Schafer

Over the next couple of days we will be announcing our players of the year. Teams nominated their own players and then it went to a vote between the clubs and media members with teams unable to vote for their own players. That being said, let’s jump right in.

The Most Improved Player of the Year goes to Max Roby of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs. Roby walks away with the most improved award despite not playing in junior hockey last season. Last year Roby was a senior in Brainerd, Minnesota where he totaled 24 points, on 15 goals and 9 assists. Roby did have a productive season this year as he was a point per game player with 33 points in 31 games. The 04’s point totals may have climbed even higher but he spent almost a full month on suspension near the end of the year. Roby also had an honorable mention for Rookie of the Month in December. A good transition from the high school level to junior hockey has secured Roby Most Improved Player of the Year in the SIJHL.
