SIJHL Year End Award: Defensive Forward of the Year

By Tanner Schafer

Over the next couple of days we will be announcing our players of the year. Teams nominated their own players and then it went to a vote between the clubs and media members with teams unable to vote for their own players. That being said, let’s jump right in.

The award for Best Defensive Forward of the Year has been awarded to Brady Frattinger of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs. Frattinger was a defensive stalwart for the Ice Dogs this season and was often able to translate good defense into instant offense. Frattinger scored 4 short handed goals on the season tops in the league. The ‘02 was an ace in the faceoff circle which is a great asset to have in the defensive zone. He also wasn’t scared to drop the gloves and protect his teammates when he had to. Frattinger’s consistent excellence in the defensive aspects of the game didn’t go unnoticed and he was voted the Defensive Forward of the Year.
