GM Ice Dogs trample Iron Rangers

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs picked up two goals apiece from Jacen Bracko and Trevor Kavanaugh along with a four-point night courtesy of Luke Bellerose to help them dismantle the Minnesota Iron Rangers 9-2 Friday evening in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Memorial Arena.

Morgan Poirier’s first SIJHL tally staked Dryden to an early lead 3:25 into the game before Clayton Brown collected his sixth for Minnesota at 7:16 while his club was shorthanded to level the proceedings.

Bellerose put the GM Ice Dogs back on top later in the frame as they carried a 2-1 cushion into the middle stanza.

Dryden then broke it open in the second period as they outscored the visitors 4-1 to go up 6-2 after 40 minutes.

Evan Walls, Wyatt Lawrence and Kavanaugh all connected for the home side in the session before Mihali See picked up his initial league tally at 15:46 as he got one back for Iron Rangers.

Bracko however picked up his first of the evening a couple shifts later as Dryden went back-up by four.

The GM Ice Dogs then put the game away in the final frame with Kavanuagh, Malcolm Huemmert and Bracko all finding the back of the net to finish off the romp.

Dryden held a big edge in the shots on goal department by a 63-21 count with Isaac Labelle recording the win while Tyler Thompson made 54 stops in a losing cause for Minnesota.
