GM Ice Dogs drop Iron Rangers 7-2 at SIJHL Showcase

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – The red-hot Dryden GM Ice Dogs continued their impressive play by dropping the Minnesota Iron Rangers 7-2 Wednesday in Day 2 play at the Superior International Junior Hockey League Showcase at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Dryden started strong in this one grabbing a 2-0 lead on tallies by Cory Dennis and Braeden Allkins, who reached the 30-goal plateau on the season.

Korey Muzzy’s 10th put the Iron Rangers on the board at 12:58 of the first to trim the deficit to within one.

Trey Palermo of the GM Ice Dogs and Minnesota’s Logan Froberg traded markers in the second before Jacen Bracko, who also his 30 goals, and Cody Wardner extended the Dryden cushion to 5-2 after 40 minutes.

A Tristan Knott power play effort kept things going for the GM Ice Dogs before Palermo wrapped up the scoring in the late going with his second of the contest and 13th overall.

Ben Dennis made 27 saves to record the win for league-leading Dryden.

Sean Angle faced 35 shots in defeat for Minnesota.

The final match-up of the SIJHL Showcase goes at 7:30 .m. CT as Thief River Falls Norskies take on the Fort Frances Lakers.
